Whether she wants to or not, Mint can passively read thoughts of other people within her vicinity! Yay! Oh no!

AS A WORD OF REASSURANCE, BY DEFAULT I'M NOT PLAYING MINT AS OVERHEARING EVERY THOUGHT OCCURRING IN DIFFERENT THREADS SHE ISN'T INVOLVED IN, EVEN IF SHE COULD HEAR THEM! I may occasionally play with the ol' "she's overwhelmed by hearing too many thoughts at once" on the basis of keeping it vague, that there were just too many thoughts to make out anything she heard.

I am also blanket-assuming Mint hearing your character's thoughts during a shared thread involving one another is generally fine since either a) you would have to be supplying me any thoughts in our thread in the first place or b) you have indicated in your permissions/squicks that this kind of thing is NG and I've already taken that into consideration. Or c) I've played with most of you before and I have an idea on the vibe.

—THAT SAID, SURELY SOME THINGS ARE CASE-BY-CASE, AND MORE OFTEN THAN NOT I'LL STILL CHECK IN TO MAKE SURE SOMETHING'S COOL! Like, "sup, in the action brackets of our thread you emphasize how much your character regrets stealing candy from that baby, and i just need to check and make sure that it's okay for mint to have heard that confession... not okay? sure thing!"

One more thing: if your character is [power sensitive in some manner or another] they probably can't tell that Mint is reading their mind since she isn't ACTIVELY probing, she's just "overhearing" their thoughts. That said, if their power/sensitivity extends to sensing her passive ability's existence, it's naturally cool with me!

So my questions for YOU:

1. If it'd be funny you are always welcome to tell me to have Mint pop-up in your thread and judge/react to someone for their thoughts. Assuming all involved parties are cool with it of course, etc. Alternatively, she can pop up even if it's not funny, but I like the rule of funny. This isn't a question, but you're free to tell me how much you like or dislike the idea of this ever happening.

2. If you happen to be cool with the implication that Mint occasionally overhears your character's thoughts offscreen, feel free to tell me about what is usually on your character's mind! If there's a theme, thoughts that come up frequently that you'd love the idea of someone knowing, or anything they usually think about. THIS IS JUST FOR FUN, NO PRESSURE TO COMPLY AT ALL, ACTUAL THREADS ARE ALWAYS MORE FUN, but it's here as an option. Mostly so if I tag you Mint can be like "ah yes this weirdo" in advance.

3. LET ME KNOW OF ANY CONCERNS OR LIMITS OR IF YOU WANT ABSOLUTELY ZERO MIND READING, ACTUALLY!! Especially if it's not noted in your permissions or squicks, we can reason that Mint just can't hear their thoughts, thus further encouraging any "head empty" jokes- (I say this fondly.) Also maybe your character CAN'T have their thoughts read at all, let me know that, too!

ANYWAY, I'm very into going with the flow and having fun, and I value everyone's comfort more than anything. Always let me know if something stops being fun and I'll do everything in my power to stop or reroute it.

I almost always love threadhopping so blanket yes. occasionally there are some circumstances wherein I might be like "ok this did become awkward bc my character would have only said some of these things if no one else was in earshot" but this doesn't even apply to mindreading so that's not even a concern. the only concern I WOULD have is if he's thinking about someone ELSE's secrets or plans something along that vein, in which case I would want to check in with that player first even if they're not actively in the thread

2. a lot of Cobra's thoughts are earworms honestly. you don't even need to be a mindreader to know this because he may just straight up start humming/drumming his fingers/etc but this basically means Mint gets a direct line to 2010s top 100 radio with bonus musical soundtracks. when he's in a bad mental place the bgm may be overlaid with thoughts about how bad he wants alcohol and whether he can somehow find a way around his miniexchange price and get drunk again

2. he is just an extremely calculating guy so it’s several layers of like, running social numbers, tallying up advantages vs disadvantages of telling people things, how to use what he learns, theorizing. very buttoned up and compartmentalized, and probably his thoughts are on the low key end, but complex to look at head on

3. i actually gave him touch-activated mindreading as a wish power and my wording on it was ‘gives surface thoughts/feelings only unless the other character has a compatible ability of their own that could jack into/amplify it,’ so if you would like to do anything interesting with that lmk!

I'm gonna go with no mindreading unless actively threading with Mint, so no overhearing thoughts in other threads for Anaxa! I don't always actively write inner thoughts in threads so it'd be difficult to keep up and it would get unfun for me quickly.

If it works for you we can just have it that Anaxa is thinking about Dromases so much that that's the first thing she picks up when she's not speaking with him, so that there's a reason for it.

But for threads with Mint she can read all of it and I will make an effort to try to notate them down

His thoughts will be a mix of depressing awe and relief of being alive again (feeling things, being able to use his senses (touching, smelling, tasting, hearing (but touching especially), his longing for his family and friends (will be especially thinking about his twin brother and Mai), enjoying almost every little thing (for the moment (until bad things start happening) and some surprising insights for someone his age.

3. Gene is quite skilled in mental skills, having developed such skills as a way for ghosts not to completely consume him when he channeled them (he was a ghost medium), so if he finds out, he might start blocking her out or at least attempting to. But only if he notices/knows about it.
